On the Horizon

Though aerospace has been in Mexico for over four decades, it is just beginning to take off. Some states already have strong industry, while others are in the nascent stage. The challenge ahead for Mexico is to cultivate effective R&D operations rather than just manufacturing. The development and complete assembly of a Mexican aircraft is still in the works and several institutions are working toward that end.

This chapter will look ahead to what the future of the aerospace industry in Mexico could hold and what efforts are being made for its growth. With interviews from representatives of financial institutions, consulting agencies, government and industry representatives, and other experts, the chapter will summarize what actions must be taken to make Mexico a world-class destination for aerospace.
