State of the Industry

The aerospace industry has recently taken root in Mexico and has truly begun to bloom in recent years at an accelerated pace. The sector is expected to keep growing as Mexican aerospace exports have increased 20.6 percent annually for the past five years to US$6.6 billion in 2015. With its strong manufacturing base, Mexico is reaping the benefits and solidifying its position as it looks to become a key player by 2020.

This chapter will give an overview of the current situation of Mexican industry in a global context, and the main changes the sector has faced during late 2016 and first three quarters of 2017. This section will include industry regulators and policy makers to review regulatory changes and technological trends. Finally, this chapter will analyze opportunities and challenges the Mexican aviation and aerospace sectors are facing in the current economy.
